As you know, the President followed through on his threat to increase tariffs on Chinese goods to 25% in May of 2019 and now is threatening another 5% tariff that will take the tariffs on our Cribette to 30% on October 15, 2019. The consequences are dire and could cost lives. The real effect of these tariffs is that essential and often life-saving baby products will become prohibitively expensive for many or even unavailable, forcing families to choose options that aren’t as safe for their babies, like secondhand products or unsafe sleep environments. Cribs for Kids and JPMA are working closely with Americans for Free Trade to urge the President to consider the potentially catastrophic impact of these tariffs on America’s children.
As we all know, these tariffs are a tax on the American people and are not being paid by China. We are asking all of our partners to sign the petition, below, so that the President will understand the impact these tariffs are having on our babies’ lives.
